Religious Education

Religious Education is a compulsory learning area in all Catholic schools.  The national curriculum is approved and mandated by the New Zealand Catholic Bishops Conference.

In senior secondary school (Years 11-13) students can gain Level One, Two and Three NCEA Achievement Standards in Religious Studies.

Support material specific to the secondary religious education curriculum, Understanding Faith, is available on www.faithcentral.net.nz.

Information and support for early childhood Religious Education is available on the NCRS website.

The NCRS website has information on adult faith formation, including parish programmes and courses for teachers.  NCRS is part of The Catholic Institute of Aotearoa New Zealand www.wcec.org.nz.
